A new day
A couple of days ago I woke up in my car and decided to start a blog.
I unfolded my legs from the backseat of my car, put on my glasses and looked out the windows of my car. Hello Walmart. Hello Pensacola.
The night before I had tried to sleep in a rest stop, but was greeted with a sign proclaiming, "No overnight stays." Perhaps this was intended for campers, but good-two-shoes me decided to stay away. Onwards I trekked. My final destination for the night - Pensacola Walmart.

Isn't it wonderful that Walmart opens up their lots to people who need a place to stay? I slept in my car once in Dover Delaware in a Walmart lot, wasn't cofortable, wasn't much of anything, but that warm clean bathroom was a welcome sight.
ReplyDeleteThey had great food too. LOL.
I believe they are banking on the concept that half awake people will wander from their cars and shop for breakfast and other items in a daze. The fact that I bought bar soap there proved this.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I do appreciate knowing I can legally be sleeping in my car somewhere.
I'm glad that you decided to do this!
ReplyDeletethat is one awesome photo.
ReplyDeleteSomehow the concept of sleeping in a car seems very poetic, but I'm sure in reality, it's anything but.
