Goodbye Laptop

Photographed by MC Film
NYC, New York - September 2009

This is the last blog I will be writing on my laptop for two months. After these words I am packing up my own computer, putting it into storage at my brother's home and existing in San Francisco for a few days without my handy computer.

On Thursday I depart for Argentina. Two glorious months immersed in a different culture. Surrounded by Spanish speakers, Spanish signs, and a whole lot of the unfamiliar.

What is my plan?

I will tell you what I decide along the way. Today all I have is a plane ticket, backpack, passport and my wits and ass.

Much food

Photographed by E-digital Fantasy
San Francisco, CA - August 2010

Eating too much at Thanksgiving is unavoidable. If I want to keep my body looking as fit and dynamic as in these photos, I must get back to work!

I am not afraid of any task with one exception. Ironing.

Salt Lake City

Photographed by Edward Badham
Model: Vassanta
Birmingham, Alabama - November 2010

I am currently about at the close of a long layover in Salt Lake City. A layover just too long to be enjoyable, and yet too short to fit in a photoshoot between flights. After reading and indulging in an overpriced, greasy dinner, I decided it was time to scroll through nude photos at the bar and post something here.

***

Ever get stuck on a plane next to that big woman who takes up a portion of your seat, adverts her eyes when you try to hint that you need room, too, looks like she hasn't washed her hair in weeks and smells like a fast food restaurant? I had a near miss with that today. Thank you airplane gods.

Razzle Dazzle

Photographed by Leland Ray
Ellisville, MS - November 2010

No, I am not like any other model you will meet. I am me. I dazzle in my own way.

***

Last full day in Houston. A day which shall be spent in preparation for the next 3 months. My packing includes proper attire for three distinct climates and essentially a few radically different sorts of trips. I am overwhelmed by the prospect of this task.

***

The plan:

December and January: Argentina
(If anyone knows of good photographers to contact while there, please let me know as two whole months with little to no modeling sound like two months too long.)

February - first week of March:
San Francisco/San Jose
Seattle/Portland
NYC

March:
Texas (Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Dallas)
Oklahoma

Paint

Photographed by Norman Gould
Portland, Oregon - September 2010

Today I have the urge to paint.
An urge which will remain unfulfilled, but is present nonetheless.

Where's Waldo

Photographed by Adam Robertson
Mission Beach, Queensland, Australia - October 2010

Honestly, I did not get into art modeling out of vanity, but to be a part of art. These photos are primarily landscapes, but in my humble opinion, the little addition of a nude, female form is an essential element to the images.

Sticker Shock

Photographed by Robert Stewart
Pinson, AL - November 2010

Today I have been compiling some of the information for my expenses related to modeling. Looking at the amount of money spent on travel (car and plane tickets) is truly a sobering experience.

Today I shall be walking to my shoot - it is only 1.6 miles away!

Growing up

Photographed by George Butch
Mission Beach, Queensland, Australia - October 2010

Doing my taxes in November? Working harder to keep in shape? Going to Frys on my own accord? Drinking coffee without sugar? Flying to other countries by myself?

I must be growing up.

....

But not too much...

Oh dear!

Photographed by Leland Ray
Hattiesburg, MS - March 2010

Some days I show up at a location and feel as though I fell into model location heaven. Today's location in Mississippi (of all places) was a grungy, but charming hotel, complete with three rooms and a full ballroom available to play in in front of Leland Ray's camera.

After a day of shooting and a bit of driving (three hours is nothing these days), I am staying with my friends Vassanta and Edward in Alabama while I work and visit in the area. Years ago I would have never imagined having friends in these states, and here I am glad to be here over and over again.

On my drive a deer was standing in the middle of the road, and I was cruising along at a legal 70 mph. On my way to Burning Man a while back I was in an RV which had a run in with a deer (and neither won), but this was my first time to encounter one while in my little car. I swerved and missed him, sparing my vehicle, body and the deer, and couldn't help but proclaim, "oh dear!"

Unleash Me

Photographed by Billy Dugger
Biloxi, MS - March 2010

Tonight I made a big splurge and am in a hotel room all by myself. With two queen beds in Biloxi, I don't even know what to do!

I'm touring around Biloxi, Hattiesburg, Birmingham, and Pensacola, and hopefully New Orleans if someone there wants me. I am always happy to see my friends in the South. This evening I drove in and had a wonderful shoot with Billy Dugger - on my previous trip to the area we met and did some traditional portraiture, glamourous portraiture, and classic art nudes. This time after a little more portraiture, we amped it up a notch and I adorned a modest, white cotton dress, basic panties, and classic heels, and undressed for a really long time.

Waking

Photographed by Mel Brackstone
Queensland, Australia - October 2010

The trick is to combine your waking rational abilities with the infinite possibilities of your dreams. Because, if you can do that, you can do anything.

I am now the proud owner of a backpacking backpack. One step closer to being prepared for my trip to Argentina.

City Arrest

Photographed by Depth of Life
Little Rock, Arkansas - July 2010

I am tempted to always be on the go. Heading to one state to shoot, then another, shooting here and there, and never really staying up in one place for very long. I now know so many great artists and people around the country, and the only way to see them again is to travel some more. But there are reasons why people in typically scheduled jobs stay home some weekends, a reason I seemed to have neglected - sometimes we need time to deal with those pesky chores (preparing for other travel, doctors, banks, paperwork).

My back has been giving me hell on and off this past six months. My plane ride exacerbated it. Sitting on a chair like a normal person (I've figured out bizarre ways to sit) hurts after only an hour, so I imagine driving cannot be good. Having recently decided to reduce my driving trip this next week, I now find myself confining myself to Houston for a full 8 days before setting off to San Francisco and Argentina (I have a sort trip before then of course). This self inflicted house arrest (or city arrest) will be a beneficial thing to my own affairs and my back's heath, as much as I would prefer to be all over the map for a few additional days.

Zany

Photographer and duo model DPX
Oklahoma City, OK - October 2010

The thought of a 14 hour flight makes me feel a bit zany.

Up, up and away

Photographed by Kounelli Photography
Blue Mountains, Sydney, Australia - October 2010

My trip to Australia was a speedy one. Yesterday was marked by an impromptu trip and shoot in Australia's capitol city Canberra - proof that I'll jump at a great shoot in an instant.

I experience Tuesday, October 2 twice in the next day - once in Australia and the air, and another time in America. Thank you date line.
